A global reference in the development and manufacturing of undercarriage systems, thyssenkrupp offers, through its Berco line, a wide portfolio of chains, rollers, drive wheels, guide wheels and shoes, among other components and subassemblies that form the rolling stock systems applied to heavy machinery such as bulldozers, harvesters and tractors used in agribusiness, construction and mining.
Berco products have the right answer to the specific needs of each equipment, whether it's for original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) or the aftermarket. Our specialized engineering, innovative technology, comprehensive know-how and state-of-the-art manufacturing ensure the full quality of the products and services offered.
Our R&D team offers customized projects, helping the customer choose the best and most effective solution for their specific indercarriage needs. Berco products add value to the business, helping to reduce engineering development time, tool costs, and manufacturing costs. This is because they are developed using 3D design, analyzed with Finite Element Analysis (FEM) and rapid prototyping capabilities. Reliability tests of components are performed to check the life and performance of a variety of applications. That is, materials and components are analyzed using the best technology to avoid production defects and verify their performance. The heating treatments are performed under continuous control of each parameter of the process by a state-of-the-art metallurgy laboratory. The production process is fully automated and guarantees the constant quality of Berco products.
History
Founded in Italy almost a century ago, Berco was acquired by thyssenkrupp in 1999 and has established itself as a global leader in the undercarriage segment for heavy machinery. The brand's products are produced in factories in Copparo and Castelfranco Veneto, Italy, Campo Limpo Paulista, Brazil, Hyderabad, India, and Waukesha, in the USA.
In a recent global change, thyssenkrupp’s Undercarriages business unit, which encompasses Berco's operations, was integrated into the Forging & Machining unit. This merger paved the way for the creation of thyssenkrupp Forged Technologies, one of the largest forged materials companies in the world.
With 18 operational units and 8 R&D centers located in 7 countries, thyssenkrupp's Forged Technologies business unit has 51 forging lines and 157 machining lines capable of manufacturing components ranging from 50 mm to 6 m. In addition, its 69 assembly lines installed in all major regions of the world assemble high precision parts with dimensions ranging from 1 kg to 6 t.
